Incorrect wind direction readings

I am operating a Fine Offset WH 1090. Recently, the Cumulus display has started showing wind directions about 180 deg opposite from actuals. The compass rose is also showing average southerly directions where actual wind is northerly.
The WH 1090 receiver is showing the directions correctly.
There has been no change made to the wind vane.
Would appreciate any help.
Thank you.

Are you looking at the 'instantaneous' wind directions in Cumulus ('Bearing' on the main screen), or the average (Avg dir)? Fine Offset wind vanes tend to flap around a lot, it's quite possible for them to show directions all over the place, which Cumulus then averages. It's hard to see how Cumulus could somehow be adding 180 degrees on to the readings it gets from the console. Are you sure you don't have an offset configured in the calibration settings?

Please do the following: Turn on the debug log in Cumulus, and then watch the console and the Cumulus display for a few minutes. As the console direction changes (every 48 seconds), note the displayed wind direction. The Cumulus display should change within a few seconds; note the figure in the Bearing box, and the time displayed on the Cumulus screen. After a few minutes, turn off the debug log. Zip up the diags folder and the debug.log file, and attach them here. Post the wind bearings and timestamps that you noted down.

Thank you for your response and suggestions.

I was looking at both the instantaneous and average wind directions on the main screen over a period of several hours.
The wind was from an Easterly direction averaging 10 - 12 knots with gusts in excess of 25 knots.
The averages on the Cumulus screen were showing predominantly a Westerly direction.

As you have pointed out, the Fine Offset wind vane tends to fluctuate wildly at times and I wonder if this is partly caused by the fact that it is mounted on the same arm as the anemometer thus causing a turbulent wind flow?

On a previous installation, I had the wind vane mounted higher on its own and I don't recall any problems then.

I also checked the calibration setting and there is no offset entered.

I also noted that the debug log was already switched on and I have since turned it off. Would this have had any effect?

Thanks for your support....much appreciated.

Not on the reported wind direction, no.
