Is it rain?

Post by water01 »

Over the last three days we have started the day with heavy fog / low cloud and as per normal it is dripping from the trees etc.

This morning, presumably because it has also been condensing onto my rain gauge, the gauge tipped even though it is not really rain but condensation from the fog.

Do I consider this to be rain or should I set it back to zero?

The Met Office handbook says that it should be included in the rain total (and on manual returns a note should be made of the actual source of the 'rain').
