Now getting "FTP Error Connecting" message when it uploads

What are possibile causes for Cumulus to suddenly stop uploading with its FTP function. Ran beautifully and now nothing but the error message in the lower left corner.

As it was working perfectly it is probably going to be some external problem. Could it be because your service host is down or have you changed your password and forgot to change it in the Cumulus login? Try using Filezilla or your FTP program of choice to connect and see if that fails also.

If that works but Cumulus is still having problems try switching FTP logging on in Cumulus and see what errors are produced in the log.

Turn on ftp logging, and look at the ftplog.txt file to see what the actual error message/number is. If the error light is flashing, you can click on that to see the errors, but generally the ftp log will be more useful anyway.

I can access the internet (browser works fine). I can FTP the website with my FTP app. I haven't changed the password or directory in Cumulus. I blanked out the FTP log file and tried connecting. It fails to connect (of course now) and the log file is still blank. It is almost like the FTP function is broke. I re installed Cumulus and still not working. HMmm...stumped

I don't know what this means. You deleted the ftplog.txt file, turned on ftp logging, but after an update the ftplog.txt file was still empty? That doesn't tie in with what you were saying before about seeing an ftp error message. What happens if you do a manual web update (from the File menu)?

The FTP error message shows up in the lower left of the Cumulus screen on the PC that it use to run the Cumulus app (where it normally will display a message that it is connecting and then uploading).

Finally a reason...The Microsoft firewall did something that was blocking port 21 (FTP port). It was a unilateral action on the part of the MS Firewall. Wish i knew what would have triggered that action. I was not working on the PC at the time it started blocking.
