Graham: nice additions and modifications to the code. The web cam picture upload software are you using?

No, the BB is proving to be a bit difficult. I can detect if you are using a BB but only if Javascript is enabled for your browser on the BB. I am looking for a way to identify the device without Javascript just now.

It's great seeing what others are doing with the code....I did consider adding the graphs, however it really slows down the transition and because it is all loaded on one page it slows down the initial load -- the idea was to have a speedy load on an iPhone (even if you were not on Wifi). I guess it is a trade off between functionality and speed. :D

Blackberries do Java - for instance - "navigator.appName" will return the browser name “Blackbrerry".

The problem, it seems, is that Blackberries out of the box have Java and CSS turned off and perhaps 99.99% of users don't know this and perhaps only a few who might find out are capable of turning these two functions on.

There must be another way!

I only included a couple of graphs that I really want to see. Find the load times to still be very good. Thanks

WiFi or 2G/3G?

It's cool on WiFi....2g /3g less predictable for me

And there lies my problem. I've asked on a couple of BB forums but hand nothing of any use back so far.

I guess one could argue that people who want to use more advanced sites may well have a bit better an understanding of the BB and have already turned it on

You could do it in PHP and look at HTTP_USER_AGENT. Not 100% reliable, I know, but if there's no better way...

I was hoping to avoid PHP as not everyone who may want to use the page on their site will have PHP access, but it looks like my only option for now.

Updated iPhone version.....

As promised, an updated version of the iPhone page.

Quick install -- download the file and replace your current files. For new users full instructions are on the web page. Click here to download

For those who have customised the page in some way, I have detailed below the changes I made to the HTML. You should replace your iui.js file and the last line of the list as a minimum.

Change log:
  • Changed the <title> tag to include the Cumulus webtag <#location>. No need to manually edit the index file now.
  • Fixed a spelling error in the Records section -- "Monthly rain fall"
  • Added the webtag tag for <#recordsbegandate> on the Records page
  • Added the location to the main page, at the top <h2><center><#location></center></h2>
  • Updated front page to show forecast and current temperature
  • Updated Javascript to stop the About button displaying when you were in the About screen
  • Added id="about" to <ul title = "About" class="panel"> to Fix About button issue
