Hi all I, am wondering if anyone can tell me where I might get a transmitter module for an older WS1081 about 4 or 5 years old and also a copy of Cumulus from around the same era as the current version probably wont work. Having fixed the rainfall problem now I am being driven nuts with lockups. The old one never gave these problems but they have changed the transmitter and a dead transmitter is not going to help me, and I cant communicate using the transmitter from the new one.
Any help would be appreciated,
Regards

Re: Parts required for 3 or 4 year old WS1081.
I have a working Fine Offset 1081 that I bought back in 2010. The only issues are the annenometer is not working and the rain gauge is broken. Apart from that all is ok. I've replaced it with a Davis VP2. I'm located in SA.
Cumulus in its latest version should work with the Fine Offset 1081. Many members use them with current version as do I at my workplace.

Hi Bob, do you know if the transmitter in your unit is the old or new? I need the old one but I don't know when they changed them. Also I would like to get an old copy of Cumulus and as I remember there were never any lockup problems with it. My old unit ran from 2007 till 2010 and the TX died and I could not get a replacement so I just turned it off I still have all of it Wind Direction still working, Anemometer has a broken shaft ( trying to get at seized bearing ), rain gauge still ok plus I have all of the above from the new weather station available. Bottom line how much? I have to be careful as I'm on an aged pension. Where in SA are you, I am near the Grampians, on the road from Ararat to Hamilton.

The reason there were never any lockup problems with older versions of Cumulus is that the Fine Offset stations at the time did not have lockup problems! The problem is with the later versions of the stations, not with the later versions of Cumulus! The later versions of the stations have lockup problems with other software, not just with Cumulus. I run the latest version of Cumulus with an old Fine Offset station, and it has never locked up once. Most people with newer stations find that the 'synchronise' option in Cumulus avoids the station lockups.don282 wrote:Also I would like to get an old copy of Cumulus and as I remember there were never any lockup problems with it.

In the current versions of Cumulus there is now an option to avoid the locking up problem on FO stations. Give it a try with the synchronise option, almost everyone has reported improvements or even resolutions.

Re: Parts required for 3 or 4 year old WS1081.
Hi Steve, thanks for the tip and I have implemented the one that I think it should be that is the one to "sync data read" not sync clock. It seems to have stopped most of the lockups but I am still getting data corruption when coming back from running it in the background to the foreground. It seems to corrupt the wind speed most by putting gusts an wind speed with totally ridiculous figures in, up around 230 Km, that's the highest I have seen so far in both gust and wind slots both with the same time of happening. I have TDK clamp on ferites at both ends of the USB cable. I need to see if someone has got a Pi running the program so as to be able to leave it on 22/7
I am hoping to get some bits together to enable me to get the old system going again and see how I go from there. By the way this unit was purchased in Mid January this year here in OZ. Maybe they are still trying to fix up what they have changed and have not heard the good old saying "IF IT AIN'T BROKE DON'T TRY AND FIX IT".....

I've not heard of that problem before. Do you mean that it happens when you have the Cumulus window minimised and then you open it up again? It must be interfering with the USB reading in some way. Does the spike removal not filter them out?don282 wrote:I am still getting data corruption when coming back from running it in the background to the foreground. Hi Steve, Where do I enable spike removal? I cannot find anywhere any reference to spike removal.

Cumulus main window, click on Configuration and select Calibration, Spike removal is at the bottom of the screen that appears.
