Hello new guy here. I downloaded the latest version of Cumulus Setup today and get a virus warning from Avast.

Attached is the info. Is this a false trigger?

It's the dumb 'reputation' system that Avast (and Symantec) are using. It's a recent file that they haven't seen before, therefore they block it until enough of their users have reported it as OK. It doesn't fill me with confidence about their anti-virus software that they have to resort to this.

Fifty anti-virus checkers (including Avast) think that it's OK: https://www.virustotal.com/en/file/c0d2 ... 394191893/

OK. I am wary as I just spent the last two weeks rebuilding after a bad rootkit virus.

Thanks. I'll report it as false.

Posting as false does not help - Avast will not let this new version install. I have tried multiple times.

I had the same problem. Just temporarily turn off Avast for a few minutes while you instal Cumulus.

1. Right click Avast icon on Task Bar
2. Click on "Avast's Shield Control"
3. "Disable for 10 minutes"
4. Accept the message that appears
5. Instal Cumulus
6. Repeat item 1.
7. Repeat item 2.
8. Enable Shield control.

Or...

1. Open Avast's User panel
2. Select "Settings"
3. Select "Active Protection"
4. Turn off "File System Shield" ie "Stop for 10 mins"
5. Install Cumulus
6. Turn "Active Protection" back on by repeating the above sequence.

I rebooted into safe mode and installed the program.
