Migrating from a Vantage Vue to a Vantage Pro2

Post by baylisj »

Hi,

Just a quick one really.

I have been using Cumulus for years with my Vantage Vue.

I am taking my Vantage Vue down this week and putting up a Vantage Pro2.

Is it as simple as this when it comes to console/data logging and Cumulus.

1) Set-up Pro2 & set-up/test console etc. then install outside.
2) Close Cumulus
3) Remove USB cable therefore disconnecting my Vantage Vue console from my laptop.
4) Take the datalogger out of the Vue console and put it in the Pro2 console.
5) Reconnect USB cable to my laptop.
6) Restart Cumulus.
7) Job Done.

Anything else I should be bearing in mind? :?

Cheers

You need to observe the precautions for removing and inserting data loggers; the console has to be completely powered down. And make sure you check your station's logging interval - I don't think the logger itself carries that with it.

From the Cumulus point of view, you may find you have a little editing of data to do, in particular 'today's rain total', as the total (annual) count in the new station will not be the same as the old one. It may just handle it automatically.

Thanks for the reply.

So basically on my current Vue console;

1) Power cable out
2) Batteries out so it is powered down
3) Then take data logger out
4) Put data logger in new Pro2 console
5) Then power-up new Pro2 console via the power supply (already done the set-up process on the new console).
6) Launch Cumulus
7) Check data logging interval is still every 5 minutes and check rain totals for year etc.

Sound OK?

I don't think the default logging interval is 5 minutes, so you need

5) Then power-up new Pro2 console via the power supply (already done the set-up process on the new console).
5.5) Run Weatherlink to set the logging interval to 5 minutes, then close Weatherlink
6) Launch Cumulus
