Downloading/running Cumulus
I have just downloaded Cumulus ( and made a donation !). I can see where the file is on my computer (Windows 7) and the Ikon is on the desktop. However when I double click on the Ikon I get no reaction at all. My (new) weather station is a Maplin Electronics N96GY. I have not loaded the Easyweather software that came with the weather station as I gather from Benvironment it is "pants" ! I am not totally computer illiterate but I will never see 70 again and started life with an Abacus ( not quite !) Any help would be appreciated.

Re: Downloading/running Cumulus
Thank you for the donation, but you should really have waited until you get it running and you're happy with it.
Can you confirm that you have actually installed it? That you have run the CumulusSetup.exe file that you downloaded, and completed that process? Assuming you have, if you accepted the default location for the installation, it should have been installed to C:\Cumulus. In there is a folder called 'Diags', if you zip that up and attach it, I'll see if I can see what the problem is. If you're not sure how to zip up the diags folder or attach it, instructions are in the post linked to near the top of the forum: "Please click here before posting...".

Re: Downloading/running Cumulus
Hello Steve
Thanks for your reply. I have tried to attach the "Diags" file but the system won't let me attach the file because it says the file is empty......... and it is ! If I can see the "diags" box, plus many other files as well, does this mean I have run the CumulusSetup.exe file correctly? The only thing I know I have done differently from instructions is to file under C:\program files\cumulus. Await your thoughts.............

Re: Downloading/running Cumulus
not sure if this might help but could you have hide files and folders set in the control panel?
to check open control panel then folder options select view and show hidden files, folders and drives.
just a thought no doubt Steve will help you sort things out.

Re: Downloading/running Cumulus
On Windows 7 you must install it in C:\Cumulus as per instructions.C:\program files\cumulus.
Suggest you uninstall and re-install in C:\Cumulus.

Re: Downloading/running Cumulus
The default installation location is as it is for good reasons. By changing it to go under Program Files, you've made it very difficult to find your Cumulus files (as you've found), and it's quite likely that this is also the reason it's not running properly - due to permissions problems.

Re: Downloading/running Cumulus
Hello Steve
Shows my ignorance - I will not mess around in future ! Do you agree with Water01 that I re-install the program ? I was able to make the program work by right clicking on the Cumulus file and then "run as administrator" but when I closed the system down it would not re-open on the desk top ikon. The "diags" folder now has 2 files which I attach - I think !
Thanks water01 and bruce45 for your input

You do not have the required permissions to view the files attached to this post.

Re: Downloading/running Cumulus
Yes, you should definitely uninstall and then reinstall to C:\Cumulus or things are just going to get complicated. Note that when you reinstall, the installer might still know that it was previously installed to program files, so you'll need to override that.
