htmtmp File Won't FTP To Web Site
I created my own template and can view it on the computer running Cumulus using Chrome.
It has a htmtmp extension which is different than any of the other files in the Cumulus web directory.
I also added that file name in the Internet Setting to be sent via ftp.
All the other templates get sent to the web server except the one I created that gets the htmtmp extension.
In fact, now I see that a filename.htmtmptmp is also listed in the Cumulus\web folder.
BTW, while doing a Web Update, no errors are displayed.
How can I create my own template and have it sent to the web server?

Re: htmtmp File Won't FTP To Web Site
Cumulus adds 'tmp' to the file that is produced from processing a user-supplied template, and then, assuming you've ticked 'ftp?' and supplied a valid remote filename + path on the ftp server, it uploads the processed file to the file that you've specified. If it's not appearing on the server, then the most likely reason is that you've supplied an invalid filename + path for the remote file. The ftp log (ftplog.txt file) would show what's going on if you turn on ftp logging. The ftp progress window is not useful for diagnosing ftp problems.

For the Local filename, do I use the .htm file or the .htmtmp file?
I looked through the ftplog.txt and do not even see any reference to the template I created trying to be sent. I've tried both .htm and .htmtmp and it didn't seem to matter.

You use the name of the file that you have created, whatever that is. Could you show a screen shot of your internet settings screen and the files tab, please?randy52644 wrote:For the Local filename, do I use the .htm file or the .htmtmp file?

Let me try this. I think screen shots must be attached to postings.
My apologies if I mess something up on the forum.

I can't see anything there that fits your earlier description of having an htmtmp extension? If it is one of those, you have 'realtime' selected, so the logging will appear in realtimeftplog.txt.
Are you sure those remote filenames are correct? You have /var/www/weather for your ftp directory for the standard files, but you're putting those extra files in the root directory. Should they be in the same place as the standard files?

Here's a screen shot of my WinSCP page showing the files.
Wife is dragging me off to "the big game party" (can't say Super Bowl without paying the NFL to do so).
I would much rather stay home and work on my web page!

If 'nowT.htm' is the template that you've produced, then the problem is as I said earlier; all of those files you've configured on the files tab have the wrong path, which is why none of them appear in that directory on the server in your screen shot. It's possible that "/var/www/weather/now.htm" (and similarly for the others) is what you need.

Re: htmtmp File Won't FTP To Web Site SOLVED
Steve,
Your comment made me think twice about what path I was using for remote files.
I'm using a Raspberry Pi as a home web server and still trying to soak in Linux (Raspbian).
Once I used the complete path on the server, my now.htm file is loading properly.
My goal is to display just a few select weather parameters on a 22" LCD wall mounted monitor viewable from anywhere in my shop.
I'm trying to find a way to display wind speed in almost real time like it is on the Cumulus console display (but much larger). My thought was to set up my own web server in house so I could do real time updating.
Do you have any advise or should I make a new posting?
Thanks again for opening my eyes to my mistake!
Randy

You could either set up a web server, and then write a web page as the display (using the realtime.txt file, or a 'custom' file) or write some software which reads the realtime.txt file directly, over your network. I suspect that the former may be easier.

Re: htmtmp File Won't FTP To Web Site
Steve,
Your first suggestion is what sort of what I am doing now. I have the Raspberry Pi running as a web server. A second Pi is running a program called Screenly acting as a auto refreshing browser to the LCD monitor on the wall.
What I was hoping to do was to recreate wind speed gauge on the Cumulus console screen display on my 22" monitor. That gauge appears to be synced to the wind update on the Davis console.
Thanks again for your outstanding support to my question and all the other Cumulus users you graciously support!

Have you looked at Mark's SteelSeries gauges? I think they would do what you want.
