cant get the ftp server to work at all...always and only connect timeout error message

Turn on the ftp logging; it produces an ftplog.txt file which may help.

Is this doing manual updates or automatic updates?

I think the best thing to do is

1. turn off automatic updates
2. restart Cumulus
3. turn on ftp logging
4. attempt one manual update
5. upload ftplog.txt

Well, I'm baffled by that, I really don't know what to suggest. You definitely have the correct details configured on the internet settings screen?

You could turn on the debug log and see what that says. Note that it only gets flushed to disc every five minutes, and may contain passwords.

I've changed the logging in the latest beta to log the connect error code; I hadn't bothered previously as I'd assumed the ftp log would be more useful.

It should log the error code to the error window (click on the error LED) and the debug log. It may help the diagnosis. Maybe not.

What is the name of your ftp server?

im using filezilla as a manual ftp server and it works fine...

ive also change computer and put it to work on my vista system,,,

could it be something with my router???

just to try it out,ive removed the router to put my system directly on my cable modem

You've definitely put the server name into Cumulus correctly?

If you can't work out what the problem is, you could use the IP address instead as a work around.

This error generally indicates that the specified FTP server name is incorrect or not specified. Try entering the hostname or IP address, not a URL (e.g. if ftp://server.domain.com/ is entered, then change it to server.domain.com).
