VP2SleepInterval A Good Idea?
Hi there,
Recently as many of you know, I have been having problems with wind readings. I am just wondering if adding the VP2SleepInterval=0 to my Cumulus.ini file would do anything? I have tried it before. But, still the wind gusts are being missed. But, not as much. To me, if it's called 'VP2SleepInterval'. Then, surely it has to do with the Davis Vantage Pro 2 and not the Davis Vantage Vue.
Thoughts?
William

I thought that Steve had proved beyond doubt that you are NOT missing wind gusts it is just YOUR PERCEPTION that you are.
I would suggest that you drop this before you stir up a hornets nest again especially as if you bothered to read the wiki it states to read readme.txt which in turn states

and is for VirtualVP owners only.If you use VirtualVP, it is recommended that you edit the
cumulus.ini file (created after you run Cumulus for the first
time) and in the [Station] section, add a line:
VP2SleepInterval = 1100

Yes, I've researched the wiki and forum. But, didn't find that bit of information. Evidence please?water01 wrote:I thought that Steve had proved beyond doubt that you are NOT missing wind gusts it is just YOUR PERCEPTION that you are.

Re: VP2SleepInterval A Good Idea?
Hmmm, just had a wind gust of 32 mph. All I saw was 31 mph and that was looking throughout the wind gust at the Davis Vantage Vue Console and never did I see 32 mph which has happened many times. A bit strange how the Davis Vantage Vue console doesn't show every wind reading it records.

Re: VP2SleepInterval A Good Idea?
I posted it!!! Look in the readme.txt file that Cumulus puts in C:/Cumulus line 45 onwards. Do you think I make up quotes!!!

Steve isn't responsible for what is shown on the Davis console!!! If you have a gripe take it up with Davis and stop posting stupid messages on this forum.
And as has been said many times before stop requoting whole posts it is bad forum etiquette!!

I don't understand, why if you have so many gripes with Cumulus, why do you not use another weather software?

Re: VP2SleepInterval A Good Idea?
Because I don't have any other software. I lost my Davis Weather Link disk. I tried Weather-Display and didn't like it.duke wrote:I don't understand, why if you have so many gripes with Cumulus, why do you not use another weather software?

Re: VP2SleepInterval A Good Idea?
Not sure it has anything to do with Davis if Weather Link can correctly log every wind gust bang on.water01 wrote:I posted it!!! Look in the readme.txt file that Cumulus puts in C:/Cumulus line 45 onwards. Do you think I make up quotes!!!![]()

Re: VP2SleepInterval A Good Idea?
Steve told you and I quote
As far as I am concerned that is end of subject, so don't bother replying.
If the gust didn't even show up on the Davis console how on earth do you expect Cumulus to get it.Cumulus can only process wind readings that it actually receives from the console via the Davis DLL. That much is self evident. If Cumulus isn't given every single wind reading, there is absolutely nothing that I can do about that.

Yes, if the wind gust didn't show up then no I wouldn't expect Cumulus to record it because it was non-existent.

Yes, I tried that before. But, you have to have it installed to update Weather Link.duke wrote:Here you go.I lost my Davis Weather Link disk.

Oh FFS. I can't believe this, not again. How many times does this have to be explained to you?
If you speak to Davis they will send you a copy of Weatherlink. Goodbye.

Re: VP2SleepInterval A Good Idea?
Just as an aside, are you confident that your anemometer is calibrated accurately enough to warrant worrying about +/-1 mph on a gust (which I believe is rounded, anyway).
