Manually adding to dayfile.txt

Hi,

I'm trying to manually add some data to dayfile.txt from when I was on holiday and my weather station and cumulus were switched off.
I have read the help file, but I 'm still running into problems.

I used the built-in editor first, pressing insert to create a new row. That is fine, but unless I add a valid figure in every field for every day (tedious) then I get an error about null values.
The help file says you can miss data off the end of each row however, so opening the file in notepad I deleted all the commas after column 14 (total rain). Then I get an error saying 'List index out of bounds (15)'. What am I doing wrong?

Thanks,

Martin

You have to supply figures for all of the fields up to the original size of dayfile.txt, Cumulus assumes they are there and only does checks for the fields after that which were introduced in later versions of Cumulus. You'll need to go up to (and including) column 16 (average temperature).

Could you tell me where in the help file you're referring to, please, and I'll change it to make this point clear.

Thanks Steve,

That's fixed it.
The help file is here:

http://wiki.sandaysoft.com/a/Dayfile.txt

under 'Manipulation outside Cumulus'.
It does mention you can miss off 'the more recent fields', but doesn't make it clear that the first 16 are required.

Ah right, you mean the wiki rather than the help file. I've added a note on that page that a minimum of 16 fields must be supplied.
