website tables not showing correctly in IE & OPERA - HELP

Post by ace2 »

I've made my own table with webtags(work in progress still) and its displaying fine in Firefox and chrome, but the table is displaying wrong in IE and opera on mobile, its over size and off to one side...
I need help!!!!!!!!
before I lose all my hair!!!!

my completed uploaded page below
http://www.users.on.net/~ace2/obe.htm

and the template file I'm using
http://www.users.on.net/~ace2/obeT.htm

by saving the obeT.htm you can see the code used.

I still haven't finished editing/correcting mistakes for data yet and testing the Java script thing as well.
I just want to get the format right so It'll display on all phones and browsers.

if someone could help, it would be great.

You seem to either have 'lost' a containing <table> or don't need it !

Code: Select all

<p align="center">so this page layout will change</p>
<tr>
<tr>
<p align="center">
    <td colspan="4" class="td_navigation_bar">:<a href="obe.htm">Observations 24 HOURS</a>:&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;:<a href="obe48.htm">Observations 48 HOURS</a>:&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;:<a href="obe72.htm">Observations 72 HOURS</a>:&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;:<a href="obe96.htm">Observations 96 HOURS</a>&nbsp;:&nbsp;&nbsp;:<a href="obe120.htm">Observations 120 HOURS</a>:</tr>
	<br />
None of this is actually in a <table>, but even if it were you have two following <tr>, and a <td ... that ends with </tr>

The same sort of thing happens all over again at line #625 onward.

Also, the page has no DOCTYPE and no opening <html...> tag, which causes the HTML validator to flags dozens of errors, and (I guess) may cause problems with some browsers.

its a little bugger to find, I've stripped every td & tr. had it working once, did something else to correct a link and back to square one. think I might completely rebuilt the template from scratch!!!

Hi Ace2,

I took a look (using Chrome and IE11) at your page a little earlier (before you managed to trash it :lol: ) and it was coming along nicely :clap:

This is mine which I knocked-up today to try out the recent history webtags. You'll see from the page header my aspiration is slightly different longer-term ;)

"Is it?"
"Yes," said Eeyore. "However," he said, brightening up a little, "we haven't had an earthquake lately.”

I might be stating the obvious but 'View Source' in Firefox will highlight all your missing html.

You're using an old version of Cumulus which doesn't have the RecentTS web tag.

Ok, some strange sh** happening!!!

I had the latest version installed before, but somehow over wrote them while transferring the the template files..(better tell the story)
Cumulus is on my media center, i use another pc to transfer any updated/changed files to.
i must have somehow copied the whole old cumulus folder from another location!!!!!
That explains why an older version was in use!!!!

So Thanks to both of you for your help(i'm still learning)

Now time to fixed a few errors in calculations and some colour changes.

USING NOTEPAD ++ not phone!!!!!
