Hello all,
As a 70 year old, I am still most happy working in imperial measurements, and at last have got around to understanding what an inch of rain really means! The metric measurement as you all know is that 1mm rain is equivalent to 1 litre of water spread over 1 square metre. I have done the conversion to imperial which I show below. I think it's correct, do you agree?

Many thanks to Steve and all for a most interesting forum.

1 inch is 2.54 litre per sq metre I think because 1 inch is 2.54 cm , correct me if I'm wrong. Hmm I was wrong its 25.4 litres :bash:
