Dear Steve

The total rainfall this month (januari) at my station is 35,5 mm. The counter for total rainfall for this year is showing 218,1. How to correct? (you can look at my site http://www.iseeyoulater.com)

See the FAQ:

http://wiki.sandaysoft.com/a/FAQ#My_sta ... _figure.29
http://wiki.sandaysoft.com/a/FAQ#My_mon ... _are_wrong

If those don't help, please zip up the diags folder and your dayfile.txt file, and attach here.

Edit: Actually, your monthly total is OK, so your daily totals probably are too. What do you have your rainfall season start set to?

I cannot recall anybody having problems with this in previous years, but by my counting that is at least two people this year who have raised it in the forum (see also https://cumulus.hosiene.co.uk/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=11163).

Code: Select all

    <td>Rainfall&nbsp;This&nbsp;Year</td>
should change from saying
Rainfall This Year
to displaying
Rainfall This Season
?
That would be an easy change if there has to be another 'patch' to 1.9.4?
But that would be confusing for the 99% of people who use a calendar year for rainfall, and lots of people would be asking what it meant. It's similar to using 0900-0900 for a 'day'. You might expect people who have explicitly set a different start month for their rainfall year not to be surprised when Cumulus does what they tell it to do ;) I could change the setting to say 'Rainfall year start' instead of season; but the help does explain that the setting affects the way the annual total is counted. I'm not sure what the point of the setting would be, if not for that.

It's yet to be confirmed that this is the cause in this case, of course.
For my two pennyworth, a few months after I installed Cumulus, I replaced your standard templates with HTML5 equivalents, and intended to use 'UTF-8' until I read on the forum that Cumulus did not save processed pages in that format. I'm guessing my pages would not be broken by you making such a change, although I virtually stopped using web pages around a year ago.
I could do it (saving as UTF-8) as an option, but I'd rather just switch over completely, since we're all supposed to be using UTF-8 for web pages now. But I think that would cause problems for people who have specified a different encoding in their web pages.

Steve

as far as I did understand I should change the rainseason setting to januari (now it is november) to correct the problem? (rainseason=year total)

Setting the rain season start to November tells Cumulus to calculate your annual rainfall from November to October. If you want Cumulus to calculate your annual rainfall from January to December, you need to set the rain season start to January (the default).
