Inspired by a graph in The Weather Observer's Handbook, I created an hourly temperature graph using Excel (pivot tables and conditional formatting) and data from the monthly log files. An example is attached.

Great stuff, I don't have the book but I did download all the Excel spreadsheets from it some time ago. I think the inspiration was a cross between the daily temperature plot and the yearly sunshine plot?

Just the yearly sunshine plot. And it is something non-MySQL users can do. For the record, I did attempt a MySQL version, but it is more trouble than it's worth and requires more time and programming skills than I have right now. Also it is something that does not have to be generated/updated with any frequency. I did use Gimp to add the months and hours.

I have the last three years on my website: http://tobyspondweather.com/tempbands.php

That looks very nice Kerry. Maybe someday I will learn and understand to do some of those things as well, but for now I usually beg, borrow, steal or rent

Your site and pages always look so pristine!
