I just received an Ambient WS-2080 and initially connected it to my computer using Easy Weather that was supplied. I just found out Cumulus is what you need to connect to Weather Underground and get a good weather display. I uninstalled EasyWeather, installed Cumulus and did the set-up. I however keep getting the error light flashing and the message is lost sensor contact but I know I am connected.
Is there something special with Ambient or am I just missing something. Being a newbie and not a techie I need all the help I can get.
Thank you,

Re: New Installation
It's telling you that the console is losing contact with the outdoor sensors. When this happens, you will normally see 'dashes' on the display instead of valid readings. If it's happening a lot, you need to look at improving the signal between the console and the sensors.

Re: New Installation
That doesn't appear to be the problem because I am getting readings from outside, including temperatures, wind speed and direction and can watch the wind change. This part has been working from day one however the Cumulus has always been stating lost sensor contact. Could there be something else?

Re: New Installation
The console sets a 'flag' in the data when it thinks it has lost contact with the outside sensors. Cumulus just passes that information on, every time it sees the flag set in the data. If you want to zip up the diags folder and attach it, I'll take a look.

Re: New Installation WS-2080
I had a similar problem --- Cumulus would not work with the WS-2080 even with all the correct settings ...
the error light blinking continuously (couldn't download data) ...
Cumulus seemed to recognize the console because when I disconnected the USB cable it said device disconnected in the error log ...
I tried all the solutions suggested (reinstalled Cumulus, did the battery & USB cable thing, etc.) ...
the only Cumulus Configuration/Station setting I've set is "Fine Offset" ...
so, I closed Cumulus, then I installed and opened EasyWeather - it connected to the console - then I closed EasyWeather ...
then I re-opened Cumulus again and it now reads from the console correctly and updates in real-time ...
maybe there is something in the EasyWeather install (a dll ???) that is needed by Cumulus ???
I'm running Windows 8.1 and Cumulus 1.9.4 ...
I hope this helps others who may have had a similar problem

Re: New Installation
The thread was originally about the console losing contact with the outdoor sensors, not about Cumulus being unable to communicate with the console. I can't explain why running Easyweather should apparently allow Cumulus to then communicate with the console; Cumulus doesn't need anything from the Easyweather installation. But it is always a good idea to run the 'official' software before running Cumulus, if only to make sure that the station is working correctly.
