default website question

Post by Fox_Of_The_Wind »

for some strange reason I had to install cumulus on a deferent computer. It will not upload on the one it was on (I will make a new thread about that one day) anyway my question is there a way to get my website to just update the stats on it? Like the temp and wind ect ect. so it don't have to update the full site everytime? I think I did have that going before but I forgot how I did it.
Thanks for any help

Are you referring to the webtags file? http://wiki.sandaysoft.com/a/Php_webtags

Yes I am. Did the default page have that? I have to refresh my page to see any updates on the site now.

Thanks!

No, the default pages are just simple HTML so they work for anyone. There are other implementations which do use PHP, see elsewhere in the forum and on the downloads page (e.g. the 'Saratoga' templates). I suspect some of the solutions may be hard to find, and I should make it easier, if someone wants to point them out to me. I've seen some PHP pages which look very much like the originals, but use PHP, and - I think - automatically refresh the data (presumably using Ajax).

If you don't want (or can't use PHP due to server incompatibility), then you can update some values from the realtime.txt file using Java. Some members do this, me included.

“It's snowing still," said Eeyore gloomily.
"So it is."
"And freezing."
"Is it?"
"Yes," said Eeyore. "However," he said, brightening up a little, "we haven't had an earthquake lately.”
