Index page not updating
Hello
I update my webpage at 10 minute intervals, and this has been working well until 0750 on 4 January when it seems to be stuck. All the other pages have updated correctly, it's just this particular one. Is this likely to be a cumulus issue or a problem with my ISP.
My page is at http://www.myweather.talktalk.net
Thank you for your time

Re: Index page not updating
Is the index.htm file being updated in the Cumulus web folder? Assuming it is, turn on ftp logging, and the ftplog.txt file should show why the file isn't being uploaded successfully.

Re: Index page not updating
Thanks for your super fast response - I've hopefully attached the file (clear as mud to me) - can you make anything of it?
My index file is updated correctly in the folder

Re: Index page not updating
It's not showing any errors. It's a bit hard to follow as the server doesn't mention any file names in its messages; I added extra logging from the Cumulus side some time ago, but it looks like you're using an old version of Cumulus. Not that it really matters, as there aren't any errors anyway, it's accepting all of the files.
So it looks like an issue on the server with that particular file (index.htm). You could try logging in and deleting it, that may sort it out.

My apology if I've put my nose into something I shouldn't, but I am sometimes nosy and wanted to see if I could get and understand something out of that log. so found:
but I have no idea what it all means other than the question was about index.htm.

Re: Index page not updating
I'm using 1.9.4 although the initial ftplog was probably produced with an earlier version originally

Re: Index page not updating
That's very odd, that's not the file I looked at! But yes, you're right, it's that temporary file on the server which is preventing the upload.

Ah - I looked near the start of the file. You might want to delete that file now to avoid future confusionmarkwall06 wrote:I'm using 1.9.4 although the initial ftplog was probably produced with an earlier version originally

Re: Index page not updating
Ok, so I need to remove the temporary file. Can I impose once more and ask how to do that please? Any idea how it got there in the first place?

Re: Index page not updating
Log in using an ftp client, look for the file '.in.index.htm' and delete it. Note that it's a 'hidden' file (starts with a dot) so you may need to tell your ftp client to display hidden files. If permissions or whatever don't allow you to delete it, you'll need to ask your web space provider.markwall06 wrote:Ok, so I need to remove the temporary file. The ftp server creates it to hold the data for a file while it's being uploaded, then replaces the actual file with the temporary file. Something went wrong with the ftp server and it didn't delete the temporary file, and it seems unable to sort out the problem for itself.Any idea how it got there in the first place?

Re: Index page not updating
I seem to be having another issue on the webpage now - my "Today" page is showing a low temperature measure for a time that hasn't arrived yet. Any thoughts please?

Re: Index page not updating
Almost certainly the midnight rollover didn't happen last night for whatever reason. If you zip up the diags folder and attach it, I'll take a look.
