How has my pressure been calibrated?

Post by hills »

Hi all

I've just installed a new FO WH2081 with a new download of Cumulus onto a new laptop and without even loading the software that came with my weather station, the pressure is calibrated perfectly. I'm at altitude 500m so there is a significant difference between Sea Level and relative, the station is reporting 955.1 but Cumulus is reporting 1016 (correct compared to other sites or at least very close ;) )

I only copied some templates from the old PC to the new one, so does anyone know what has calibrated my pressure? Does Cumulus do it automatically with the altitude value or something like that or was it in one of the files I copied across?

Cheers

Unless you have set the 'multipliers' (not recommended), it is pure happenstance that your relative pressure is correct on fireing up a new wx !

far out, thanks for that. :)

No the only multiplier I'm using is for rainfall with due to the larger funnel I have over the rain sensor, but I changed that manually on the new install. Everything else is has zeros. I would have thought without making any changes it would have just used the relative... but I'm glad it isn't! ;)

They do seem to come with random values pre-configured for the pressure offset.

hmmm... I added a home made Stevenson screen to the sensors so I shutdown Cumulus and took the battery out of the receiver while I did it and when I turned it back on the calibration for pressure had changed. It was still different to absolute pressure but not as accurate, so I loaded easy weather and set the calibration there. It looks like it selects a random value each time the receiver is turned on. :?

Oh.. and you're welcome. :)
