I had a Watson / Fine Offset W-8681-SOLAR but got completely fed up with the repeated crashes etc so I dug out my old Watson / Fine Offset W-8680 with broken wind gauge which I repaired using the bits from the Watson / Fine Offset W-8681-SOLAR.
I have a few suspicions about the accuracy now of the Watson / Fine Offset W-8680 so wondering about replacing it. Have the faults on the Watson / Fine Offset W-8681-SOLAR ever been fixed or are new ones just as unreliable as they ever were.

Re: Watson / Fine Offset W-8681-SOLAR
Hi JMB
Have been running the solar unit for 15 months now. Before that the non solar for over 3 years.
The 'new solar' is about the same in operation.
It is still a bit quirky with some users but so far its been pretty good for me.
That said, the pressure sensor readings have failed in the last month.
I am about ready to open the console and tinker but
As for accuracy, that has been well documented in the forum
The unit needs to be housed very carefully to optimise accuracy but its pretty good for the price.
I feel the outside temp sensor is too unshielded so a screen is required. OK at ground level but not elevated along with the other sensor in urban locations

Thanks, I did not dare elevate it because of the unreliability problems!
Something not right with the present one since the Cumulus software update but not had chance to have a look.
