Min Temperature and Barometer show zero
All of a sudden, starting yesterday (December 18tjh) I am always showing values of zero for the minimum temperature and minimum barometer values. I can't seem to find any reason for this. Any ideas or suggestions?
I am running version v1.9.4 (1085) and have been for about a month now. I am also using the Davis 6153 Vantage Pro2 weather station.

Re: Min Temperature and Barometer show zero
You have some sort of communication problem between the PC and the station logger. It keeps losing the connection, and when Cumulus starts up on a morning, it's unable to download the logger entries that it needs to catch up from the previous night. This is causing large gaps in the data (as indicated by the straight lines on your graphs) and the daily highs and lows are affected when it can't use the logger data to complete the day's data.
I'm afraid that's all I can tell you, there's no way for me to know what is causing the communication problem.

I will be contacting Davis tomorrow. I have to be going to a meeting now, so it will have to wait until the morning.aznetcowboy wrote:Steve, steve wrote:Please zip up the diags folder and attach it.

Re: Min Temperature and Barometer show zero
So far, not much (actually none) help from Davis. However, I went through the Weatherlink 6.0.3 software and gathered the following information.
I am running my weather station on a Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit O.S. and the settings used in the WeatherLink 6.0.3 software as follows:
• The Model is Vantage Pro (actually it is a Vantage Pro2, but there is no model like that in the drop down menu).
• The Transceiver set to Station 1 as ISS.
• The Communications Port is TCP/IP, the TCP/IP Port is 22222, and the TCP/IP Remote Address is 192.168.0.102. The Local Device ID is 00:1D:0A:00:6E:A5 (Not selected).
• When trying to download data, it retries and retries and then fails. But if I do it in Safe Mode, it works fine..
BTW, is there any forum like here for SandySoft that is available for the Davis weather stations?

That's very odd. Perhaps something that gets loaded in normal mode (and doesn't in safe mode) is interfering with the connection. Anti-virus, firewall software, something like that.aznetcowboy wrote:When trying to download data, it retries and retries and then fails. But if I do it in Safe Mode, it works fine..
Does Weatherlink have the same problems downloading the logger data, or is it just Cumulus?

WeatherLink won't download when in normal mode either. You have an interesting thought about maybe the firewall or anti-virus. I will play around with them and see if I can make things work differently.steve wrote:That's very odd. Re: Min Temperature and Barometer show zero
I have been able to get good numbers in recent downloads. I did not find anything of any help in my Avast Antivirus or firewall to resolve the issue. However, I discovered that when I first start up my PC in the morning, I must start Cumulus the very first thing (after about 5 minutes after logging in). Then I get the total readings I expect. After starting Cumulus and allowing it to download the data it want and update as it wants, then I can start my Cumulus Toolbox and the WeatherLink IP (if I wish to).aznetcowboy wrote:

Go figure. If I do things like starting the Cumulus Toolbox first, the data just doesn't download properly.

Re: Min Temperature and Barometer show zero
Just thought I would pass along that my problem has finally disappeared. I replaced my old Dell computer which only had 4GB of ram with a new HP computer which not only has 3 times the ram (12GB) but is way faster. Since setting up the HP, my readings have always been okay. I guess that my old Dell just couldn't handle the downloading from the sensors. I don't recall hearing about Cumulus and the amount of ram required. In any case, I am a happy camper now.

Re: Min Temperature and Barometer show zero
Cumulus will normally run on very low-end computers, and doesn't require much RAM. I ran it on a slow PC with XP and 2GB of RAM for some time. I don't have an IP logger, though, so perhaps communication with one of those requires more effort from the PC.aznetcowboy wrote:I don't recall hearing about Cumulus and the amount of ram required.

Re: Min Temperature and Barometer show zero
My old weather computer had a single pentium CPU, 1GB RAM, and Windows XP, Cumulus ran fine on it.
