Wild bitter cold temp variations last night

Coldest night I've had here since the installation of the VP2 in October 2012. -18.5 F (-28 C) Brrrrr.....
I don't doubt the reported low, but look at this chart: Those plunges happened over a period of only one or two minutes, but do correspond with the wind becoming calm in both instances. Same thing with sudden warming. The wind starts blowing a bit again and the temp rises 10 degrees in one minute.
I live in a very low, marshy area between two fairly high hills so it's not unusual for my temps to be considerably colder than other higher areas only 5 miles away. But are these spikes believable? Have you ever seen such recordings at your own stations?
Comments welcome.
