Moon Phase Webtag

Post by Big Daddy »

Please can you let me know if its possible to slightly alter the naming for the moon phase tag. This is purely for aesthetic reasons. I pull the tag into my template which then selects the appropriate picture to display along with the name. I have notice that 6 of the 8 phases both words begin with Capitals e.g. Waxing Crescent, Waning Gibbous, Full moon and New moon only have the first word with capitals. The only place I could see these mentioned were in the samplestrings file but I dont know if this is the correct place to change them.

Apologies if I am being too "picky"

Thanks
Andy

Yes, strings.ini (samplestrings.ini is just a sample file, you have to rename it - and restart Cumulus iirc - to make it effective) is the place to alter them. I have updated the Wiki to make it a bit clearer.

They should really have a capitalised "Moon" as it is a proper name. I hadn't noticed that before, I'll have to alter mine now. :bash:

Many Thanks. I only noticed it as it changed to a Full Moon and my image disappeared. When I first created my moon phase icons they didn't appear as I hadn't capitalised each word so it was looking for the image Waxing Crescent and my was labelled waxing crescent. So I went and changed them all and then Full Moon didnt appear

In addition I am sure i had read somewhere about there being 16 moonphases available. Was this just something that had suggested in the forum?

Mark's the expert on things astronomical, but if there are another 8 phases, I have no idea what their names are. I think 8 is probably sufficient for Cumulus anyway, as it's a weather program rather than an astronomical program.

I have never come across more than the 8 phase names being used. A quick google sheds no light :) on the matter either. 8 should be enough for anyone
