WH2080 problem

Post by pernaczy »

Hi,
I'm running Fine Offset WH2080 and Cumulus since November 2012 and in general there was no problem with the station except of "typical" problems, for example "USB locks completely".
3 days ago (on 7th December) I had to replace batteries in the external transmitter (TX icon had shown up). During this operation:
1. Station was running and was connected to PC
2. Cumulus was running
After replacement I had to reset the station (it did not shown the data from external sensors: temp, humidity, wind direction and wind speed).
After this station started to receive all data from external sensors and also DCF signal.
Unfortunately station stopped to shown the pressure data (as far as I know, pressure sensor is inside the station itself).
Now the situation is as follows:
1. Station shows an ABSOLUTE pressure as 000,0 hPa
2. I set the RELATIVE pressure on the station as 1015,9 (just by accident, it could be any other value).
3. On the Cumulus, from time to time, I change the pressure value manually (I'm using "Configuration-->Calibration--> Offsets") just to have it "relatively close" to the real value on my web page.
I'm sure that it has nothing to do with Cumulus.
I just would like to get your opinion.
- Is there any chance for this "pressure sensor" to be working properly?
- Is it possible to buy and replace just the "pressure sensor" and what kind of sensor it shoud be?
- Maybe you can read "something" useful from my "Diags" folder (attached to this post).
Thanks in advance for any advice.
Best Regards,
Piotr

All that I can see in the diags is that the absolute pressure is reading zero, and that there were some problem with communicating with the station.

You're allowed to look at the diags files yourself, by the way, they're not secret ;) Some of it obviously only makes sense to me, but when it's not a Cumulus problem there's not much I can say that you can't see for yourself in the files, e.g.

2013-12-09 15:59:29.343 : EWUSB: Read pressure values: rel=1015,9 abs=0,0 offset =1015,9

Thank you, Sreve. As I have written in my previous post, I'm pretty sure that this is not Cumulus problem but the problem with the station. I attached the"Diags" folder just in case.

Have you seen this thread? The WH2080 should be only a little different. The fault might be only a bad solder joint.

A few electronics components distributors do sell barometric pressure modules, but it could be difficult to find an exact replacement. Maybe you can find a "faulty" Console with a different fault? It's probably not worth trying to buy a replacement Console because complete stations can be not much more expensive (and give you lots of "spare" sensors).

Cheers, Alan.

Thanks Alan,
This is the thread I was looking for (I've seen it long time ago and now I could not find them again). There is currently possibility to buy faulty WH-2080 on internet auction in Poland and I will try to get it.
Regars,
Piotr
