Hi all just quick introduction and thanks for allowing me to join the forum. I'm a middle aged man living in Perth Australia. I've always been a bit of tinkerer and enjoy fixing, pulling things a part and restoring things that have been discarded, much to my wife frustration. I find it satisfying restoring things, giving them away and putting them back into use. I have always been interested in the weather as I have a science background. So I stumbled on a weather station recently ,installed it and thanks to Sandsoft I now have it up and running. I did make a donation .
Im very much an amateur and over the coming weeks will be learning (basic) web page design and use the wiki manual. Hopefully I'll be able to tweek the web page a bit more. This all new to me but I finding it fascinating as I'm going along. Thank you to Sandsoft for the use of the software Cumulus.
I think you'll find that your description of yourself fits many of us here. Of course, unlike your wife, mine frequently says to me, "please bring more useless crap home and pile it in the basement and garage for several decades. You'll definitely need that junk someday!" Naturally, I try to abide by her wishes.
Soon, you will become dissatisfied with the way your website looks. You'll want Mark's gauges, and Ken True's PHP templates, and...and...and... lose sleep!
You may even begin to demand Steve answer questions like, "why didn't you use comic sans as the default font on your web pages?" or, "what were you thinking when you put that stupid sea gull on my web page?" or even, "can't you just re-code Cumulus so that it runs the way I think it should?" When Steve declines, you may become perturbed and be tempted to declare, "but, but... I GAVE YOU A DONATION!!" I trust you will resist these urges.
Cheers!

*EDIT* Oh, I almost forgot. The reason Steve named his organization "SandSoft," is because he lives on Sand island in the Korneys. Hope that clears it up.
Thank you for the reply's and words of encouragement. After 3 days, 8 hours and 23 seconds I have now encountered the world of black magic art of web design. Not for the faint hearted I cans see this is going to be a slow process and watching my remaining hair disappear between the cracks of my keyboard buttons. Thank you "You Tube" for the free lessons My wife thinks this is great as it has kerbed my ability of collecting and hording treasure!
I have had the pleasure of sailing around the world several times whilst in the navy but I don't think I can recall the Korneys is it one of these man made islands? you hear about
Sandaysoft is the home of Cumulus, free software for your personal weather station. We are located on the island of Sanday, in Orkney, off the north coast of Scotland in the UK.
Well, to understand you have to carefully re-read Marco's original post.
I was just attempting to be polite, understanding, non-threatening and non-judgmental!
