Edit rain rate problem?

Post by George Richardson »

Hello,
We had sleet yesterday which built up in Davis VP2 rain bucket then rain today which melted yesterday's sleet and caused a huge "Rain Rate". How can I completely remove this erroneous number and will that restore the previous, correct number?
Thank You

The figure will be in today.ini as the highest rate today, and also in Dec13log.txt as part of the general logging. You'll need to stop Cumulus and edit those files with a text editor (you'll have to invent some other values to put in).

Assuming it broke your highest rain rate this month, the easiest fix is to use the month.ini file from the backup taken just after midnight today (look for the latest folder in the backup/daily folder). Copy the file to your data folder while Cumulus is stopped.

If it also broke your highest rain rate this year, do the same with the year.ini file.

If it also broke your all-time December rain rate, do the same with the monthlyalltime.ini file.

If it also broke your all-time high rain rate, do the same with the alltime.ini file.

If you do this before midnight today, that should be it.

Thanks Steve,
That did it (I hope), except, what is "monthlyalltime.ini"?
I'm running 1.9.2 build 1026.

Thanks Again,

George

Hi George,
I believe that relates to the monthly records feature that was added in Cumulus 1.9.3 like here http://www.komokaweather.com/weather/monthlyrecord.htm Just select the month and the alltime records for that month will appear.

It looks like it is time for an upgrade eh ;) You can just install the latest 1.9.4 release overtop of your version but highly suggested you backup your data (or perhaps your whole Cumulus) folder just in case something abnormal occurs during the install. It only takes a few minutes for the upgrade.

And if you do upgrade (which I strongly recommend, as I can no longer support 1.9.2) please read the release announcements for both 1.9.3 and 1.9.4:
