Virtual serial port problem
I cannot get a connection of Weatherlink or Cumulus via virtual serial port. I have checked the FAQs and been following the very comprehensive help for setting up virtual serial port. I have downloaded the latest version of CP210X from Silcon Labs and installed it. I can see the virtual serial port in my device manager (USBXpress) but I can't get Davis Vantage Vue to connect to a COM port - USBXpress is not available in the list of COM ports - only numeric named ports are availaable. Cumulus also will not connect. The FAQ says that if you can't get Weatherlink to connect, you won't get Cumulus to. I am using Windows XP SP3 with Weatherlink 6.0.3 and Cumulus 1.9.4. Thanks, William

Re: Virtual serial port problem
That's not a virtual serial port - it's a USBXpress port. A VCP (virtual com port) would appear in the Ports section of Device Manager, not the USB section. You need to change the logger mode with the Windows conversion utility - see the Start Button menu option under Weatherlink.wbliss wrote:I can see the virtual serial port in my device manager (USBXpress)
