Cumulus Support

Hello everyone
I am new to this forum and have a few questions.
I have the WS2090 and was running the easy weather software at the same time I was running the cumulus software. I later realized that I did not need to do that but I received several spikes to the wind and temperature reading it showed a wind of over 160 MPH and a temp of 198 or so.
My question is how do I erase these readings from my history in cumulus .
The other question is there a way to change the time that shows up for sun rise and sun set it appears to be using UTC time.
It shows my sunrise at 20:13

A lot of your data from the period when you were running Cumulus and EW at the same time will be invalid, so it's going to be quite hard to remove all of the errors. It would be much easier to just start again - stop Cumulus and delete the contents of the data folder. If you really want to try to fix the problems, use the dayfile.txt editor (on the edit menu) and correct all of the entries in there, and then use the other editors to recreate the highs and lows from the corrected dayfile.txt. You will also have a lot of invalid entries in the monthly log files; if you want to correct those as well, you'll need to edit the files in a text editor (with Cumulus stopped).

The other question is there a way to change the time that shows up for sun rise and sun set it appears to be using UTC time.

I deleted the contents of the data folder and that took care of the invalid data
As for the sunrise time I used my I phone to determine my latitude and longitude it should be close enough
latitude 30 16 58 N longitude 81 32 23 W is what I used for Jacksonville, Fla 32246

I believe you have entered "E" instead of "W" for your longitude, as mentioned in the FAQ. If that isn't the case, please attach a screen shot of your Cumulus station settings screen, and copy and paste the Latitude and Longitude lines from your cumulus.ini file.

I have the same problem with spiked readings. I have a WS2090 installed in July, 2013. I have not run Easy Weather since I downloaded Cumulus. All was fine until the high readings two nights ago. I went in and manually changed those only to have them repeat again.

I can't tell if this is a software or hardware problem but it was not caused by having two programs running.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

It's a very common problem with Fine Offset stations, that's why Cumulus has 'spike removal' settings (on the calibration screen). A USB cable with ferrites may also help.

I see that now and have changed those settings. But I'm curious as to hwat causes that. Is there an incompatibility between the hardware and software.

I'm not sure that anyone has actually identified what causes all of the spikes; it's an issue with the stations. Electromagnetic interference at the sensor is one cause, but there are others. There are many threads about this on the forum.

The spikes occur with other software as well, so this is not specific to Cumulus.

sorry to bother again, but I don't think I'm doing the spike removal thing right. I went to Configuration, Calibration and set tamp to 43C yesterday. This afternoon, I got a new record of 148.6F. After making changes to some spike removal settings, I hit enter to set the new value and then clicked OK.
so why did the software post a record higher than my setting?

Look at the help for the spike removal settings. They're not absolute values, they are changes in value from one reading to the next.

So I went into edit all time records and manually change daily rain and monthly raid to different numbers and cvlick "OK" aThen go view all time records and my changes didn't take. What am I doing wrong?

Hard to say with no details to go on. Are your current readings the ones setting the records, i.e today and this month? If so, as soon as you change the records, the current values will overwrite them again.

Yes they are current records. So there is no way to prevent the overwrite? Do I have to wait to see if the spikes stop before they can be overwritten?

But if your station is constantly adding extra rain, then you'll be having to do this constantly too. Cumulus filters out very large increases in the rain total, but there are limits to what it can cope with intelligently.
