WH3080 WH3100 - lost sensor at 20mt

Post by Simbor »

Hi boys,

I have a problem with my WH3100 (868Mhz) station.

I state that until last month I had (for 5 years) a WH1080 working perfectly.
Lately no longer worked properly receive the signal.

I decided to change and I took a WH3100 (but is identical to the WH3180).
Nothing has changed in positioning both the base and the external sensors. Nevertheless, the previous state of the 1080 to 3100 does not receive the signal.

I tried to move it (with many problems) and it improves.

There is the possibility of putting an external antenna on RX, so as to increase its sensitivity?

Between TX and RX, there are less than 20 meters and 2 walls (one external and one internal divider).

Thanks

PS: I just replaced the original battery on TX, with the 1.2V 2700mAh NiMH.
The original just tested, they are still at 1,584 V

Hi,

Does the Console receive signals better if you unplug the USB cable connection to the Computer? The supplied USB cable is poor quality and can radiate interference into the Console (a more serious problem with the WH3xxx models than previously). A ferrite core on the cable may help, or try to get a screened cable (note that, unusually, the cable has a "Type A" USB plug at both ends).

The lower voltage from NiMH cells may reduce the transmitter power/range, and you may be annoyed by a continuous "Low TX Battery" icon on the Console LCD. However, the "best" replacement cells to choose is a (very) complex subject. The most suitable is probably a single Lithium Iron Phosphate (LiFePO4) rechargeable AA cell (which delivers around 3.2 volts) with an "AA Placeholder" (short-circuit dummy cell) to complete the circuit. They can sometimes be obtained as "replacements" for the better-quality garden solar lights. But my secondary recommendation is not to spend too much money or time trying to find the best battery!

Cheers, Alan.

Thank you Alan, for your help.

The old RX ( wh1080 ) was connected with 2m USB cable ( extension cable + original USB) and it worked for 5 years.
I connected the new station to the same system , but also with the problem WH3100 (lost connect sensor) sometimes returns .
At that point, I started to move the RX in different places to bring it to the window.
For 24h all ok.
At that point ( today ) I did run the usb cables under the baseboard of the wall and RX was placed closer to the TX, compared to previous tests (should be better  )
Unfortunately, now there are new usb cable:one extension 5m + 1m usb original .
Bad luck has it that I used to own the original cable 1 m . :?

I'll try to replace the original usb cable , as well as try not to connect the rx to the server.
Now , the RX regularly works for about 4 hours without any problem.

For Battery :
It's already message " TX battery low" .
In fact, the original batteries were not discharged ( they have 4 days of life )

PS: before I decide to change the weather station , always finding dead batteries on the TX wh1080 only after 7 days, I have done the power supply 3V for TX :D
If I want, I could also modify new TX .... and take away the thought.

I will be sure to try disconnecting the USB cable, when I see you again "lost sensor contact" ;)
