Oregon WMR80, SMART WEATHER WH2080

Post by nasda44 »

:( I wondered if any of you knew how to solve the problems I am having with my weather Stations I have an oregon wmr80. also a smart weather wh2080 which worked well with Cumulus both have lost contact with the outdoor sensors, Oregon said that the Mother server in Hong Kong is down.I have changed all Batteries and resets on the oregon one but can't find a reset on the WH2080
but just wondered if Oregon are stalling me as this WMR80 Station is only a few Months old.

Now and again the Oregon one shows some readings but only for a few Minutes, The smart weather one had not had any contact with the outside sensors.

So fed up spending Money and getting Rubbish weather Stations , Can any one advise me as to what weather station I should be buying . :(

YES, Davis :!: VP2 or Vue. Maybe the Christmas bonus comes your way soon, or birthday gift to yourself.

Hi,

Welcome to the forum. Sorry, I don't know anything about Oregon stations, but "WH2080" sounds rather like a Fine Offset-manufactured station (which are sold under very many "badged" names). Does it look like any of the stations in the "sticky" threads at the top of the Fine Offset section of this forum? Most of the photos are of the "insides", but a few show the LCD layouts, or external appearance of the sensors, etc..

However, if both stations are affected, maybe you have an "issue" with local radio interference, do they both use a similar frequency (probably 434 MHz or perhaps 868MHz)? Does either work (reliably) if you bring their transmitter close to their receiver (LCD Console) and repeat their correct setup procedure. Fine Offset models are "reset" by removing and replacing their batteries (and unplugging their USB cable).

Davis stations do indeed have a much more "rugged" radio link, but cost very considerably more (particularly outside of the USA).

Cheers, Alan.

Thank you for the replies,
Yes the WH2080 is a fine offset and the station is identical to this model http://www.foshk.com/weather_professional/wh2080.htm . However I think it has totally stopped working , I have tried bringing the sensors together and resetting changed batteries ect , still no outside data being sent .

The Oregon one seems to be working now and then and seems a little better since I removed the batteries from the wh2080.
Was going to take the back of it and have a look  but maybe best to leave it as I don't know what I am doing or looking for.

I best start saving and tell everyone that I want money as a Christmas present so I can purchase a Davis centre .

Hi,

It's quite possible that the transmitter of the 2080 has failed, but a few more tests could be worthwhile: Is the red LED on the transmitter still flashing once every 48 seconds (it should)? Also note that you must remove and replace the batteries in the Console after re-inserting the batteries in the transmitter. There is probably a tiny icon (very easily overlooked) on the LCD which should flash each time the Console "expects" to receive a signal from the transmitter (i.e. when the LED flashes).

Cheers, Alan.
