Hi to all,
I have only signed up to this site today Sunday October 20th. I have only had my Davis weather station up and running since Wednessday October 9th (Weaver View Weather, Nantwich UK). I have the Davis Vantage Pro2 with WeatherLink v6.0.3. This uplinks my weather date to The Internet to the Davis site and a couple of others. I am using Cumulus v1.9.4 to also send date to The Internet.
So now to my problem, with Weatherlink IP all my date is sent to The Internet when my computer is offline, so is there away to get my data upload to The Internet with Cumulus when my computer is shut down?
I hope this question has not been asked and sorted before.
Thanks.
HKB

Re: New menber help
In order for Cumulus to upload data to a web site, it has to actually be running, or how else could it do it? And for it to be running, your PC must be running. Or perhaps I misunderstand your question?

Thanks for the reply, looks like I will have to install Cumulus on my laptop and leave that running.
Thanks.

Re: New menber help
Make sure you disable any power saving settings. Laptops have a tendency to sleep. You'll need to make sure it doesn't do that while Cumulus is running; this is true of any PC, but laptops tend to have more aggressive power saving settings by default.

Thanks for the reply, I know about not letting the laptop sleep etc. Earlier tonight I noticed that the "new record" in the status box is no longer flashing which it has been since installing the SW. I have tried reinstalling but still no joy, having tried again to reinstall it is saying "error 32701 while trying to initialise the station. Please check your connections and settings", can anyone help with this please?

Re: New menber help
Hi Bob.
A far better bet is to get a scrap PC and dedicate it to the job of weather station only !
There are hundreds being binned and the required spec is very low.
My WS laptop is a 15 year old HP

Thanks for your reply and input. I do have an old laptop a Sony Vaio which would be fine I think, the only problem is it will not boot up! Not sure what the problem is, as at first it would and then would not boot. I am sure it is "not" the HD or Motherboard, I am thinking on the lines of the BIOS battery being flat, but I am not sure if this could cause the problem, I know the computer battery is US, however, the power supply is working ok. I don't know if there are any guys on this forum who can give any hints on this laptop problem? I think when it worked it ran Windows 98, I know I did a memory upgrade to what I cannot remember.
Regards,
Bob.

Why did you need to re-install just because the 'new record' light stopped flashing? It stops flashing if no new weather records have been broken.Hong Kong Bob wrote:Hi Steve, steve wrote:Make sure you disable any power saving settings. Laptops have a tendency to sleep.
