ftp to website

Post by hrsfoto »

Yesterday I installed Cumulus (vantage pro2 - windows 7 pro) after a bit of trouble. It works just fine uploading to weather underground and on my computer. I have tried for about a day to get it to work on my website. It refuses to upload anything thru the program. I can filezilla the files and it works on the website, I can have syncbackpro upload the files every 5 minutes and it works. But to do correctly thru Cumulus nogo.

Any ideas?

I had hundreds of errors with Cumulus trying to ftp- Right now errors have stopped but it does not upload anything. I uploaded the five files to my website and added an index.htm file but nothing gets added or changed - On the bottom lower left of Cumulus every minute it says 'uploading' but nothing changes

Turn on ftp logging (on the Configuration menu) and look at the ftplog.txt file (in the Cumulus folder), or attach it here. A screen shot of your internet settings in Cumulus would also be useful.

If there's ever anything you don't want made public you can send it to me via private message.

Your ftp server says that the directory you have supplied to Cumulus doesn't exist:

12:32:04:060 Changing directory to LowerPinesWeather
12:32:04:060 FTP Command: CWD LowerPinesWeather
12:32:04:060 04F18A20 TriggerDataSent 1436
12:32:04:137 FTP Response: 550 LowerPinesWeather: No such file or directory

Sometimes ftp servers have directories at the top level which hold the 'root' of your web space, eg 'www' or 'htdocs' or any number of other things. I can't tell you what you need to put as there are so many variations. You should be able to work it out from what you see when you log in using an ftp client - Cumulus is just the same as an ftp client, it needs to change to the correct directory just as you would when you do a manual ftp.

OK. I changed the 'directory' to '//httpdocs/LowerPinesWeather' without the quotes accidentally and it appears to be working but that is not how filezilla logs on that I know of

Is this correct? or will there be problems with it this way

Having two slashes on the front is odd, and probably unnecessary. It might cause problems with other things, e.g. realtime.txt. If //httpdocs/LowerPinesWeather works, then I would expect /httpdocs/LowerPinesWeather to work.
