A novel real-time gauge display

For anyone interested in real-time gauge displays driven by Cumulus, here's another interesting example:

The Instromet range of weather stations has just been revised and updated and we're starting to offer them. (Instromet are a UK-based company that specialise in electronic stations but with an impressive and retro display based around analogue dials set in a large (12" wide as shown and there's an Executive model double that size!) polished wood case - they're in demand from users with a preference for traditional stations like golf and sailing clubs.)

Crossed my mind whether it might be possible to create a live simulation of one of these displays and so I asked Mark Crossley whether it might be feasible in principle. Mark took up the challenge and has succeeded in creating something much more accurate and impressive than I ever imagined was possible. It is as close to real-life as one might ever expect a PC display to be able to simulate and, on a big monitor, even larger than the real thing. (There are a couple of configuration options that you'll be able to discover by clicking in the right place .) Current update interval is 10 secs.

NB: This is simply a live demonstration for now and not a distributable download. Also, the PC generating the live data-feed is a development machine and occasionally offline when it's being used for other things - please check back at a later time if you happen to catch it when it's not live. Final caveat: it's actually relatively quiet here currently - hopefully there will be more breeze to see over the weekend.

Despite the JavaScript tag, it is really a CSS implementation, the JS just fiddles around with the CSS, unless you have a legacy browser in which case JS does the animations.

I have updated the copy on my web site to use a new long polling technique to fetch the realtime data.
The server should send the data as soon as it changes (every 5 seconds is set in Cumulus).

But you did spot the feature that Mark included to show the min and max pressures for the day if you 'tap' the min/max knob? (Not a lot of pressure change today here so far though.)There are a couple of other hot-spots enabled too.
