I bought a solar and uv sensor and I just wonder if I need to do any settings for these in the console or is it just to mount them up and connect them in?

The instructions don't mention anything about the console (other than viewing the values to test), and I don't remember having to do anything when I added my solar sensor, so I think they 'just work'.

Ok, thanks i'll give it a try and see what happens.

Don't expect instant readings. Usually takes around 60 seconds to get a reading from both of those sensors after they're plugged into the ISS.

Even longer if it's dark iirc.

The UV & Solar sensors only update every minute, which is the normal update interval for these units.

Every five minutes when it's dark. Which is why sometimes you'll see a sudden jump on your UV meter. At least I do. I have some trees in the eastern horizon that aren't incredibly tall, but I do see a jump directly to 0.5 almost every morning.

There's a minimum threshold reading on the UV sensor. Can't recall without checking exactly what it is, but it could well be 0.5.

(Apparently UV is quite a tricky/noisy sensor for the SIM circuitry to read accurately and in the past various users were perturbed by non-zero readings overnight. The fix was to set a threshold value below which the reading is treated as zero. Not sure I'd agree that this was the best solution but a few users were very vocal in their dislike of non-zero overnight readings and this is the consequence.)

The min UV reading is indeed 0.5
