Hello,
I recently installed a WH1080 weather station (2 weeks ago) - all has been ok but recently the wind speed has stopped registering on the weather station... it spins in the wind but no data is coming through... I have checked connections etc but not tried to take anything apart... the weather station was a gift and has been in a back bedroom for sometime until I put it up... any forum members with any hints/help to resolve this? I have seen another thread where a poster talked about the anemometer not spinninng and so took it apart and serviced it but mine spins fine... any help appreciated cheers

Re: WH1080 Weather Station Anemometer not registering wind s
Hi,
Welcome to the forum. If it previously worked correctly, then could water have found its way into the cable/connectors (not much is needed to "short out" the electrical signal)?
The connectors into the transmitter unit and vane sometimes don't make good contact, so try re-seating them. The anemometer only contains a magnetic reed switch which can be easily tested with a multimeter or continuity tester. If you don't have either, try plugging the Wind cable into the "Rain" socket on the transmitter; then spinning the rotor should record an enormous amount of rain (after up to 48 seconds).
If the magnetic reed has failed then a replacement anemometer can be purchased from Maplin for £2.50 (plus shipping, or it may be found in a few of their stores). Or repaired for less than £1 if you happen to have a local "99p Stores" and a soldering iron.
Cheers, Alan.
