WS 1081 reset problems

After several years (3 I think) of running my Fine Offset (along with the excellent Cumulus software) it all goes wrong.
The system locks up and after searching this forum, the reset solves the problem - HOWEVER - my inside temperature is now stuck at 25 C.
Any thoughts?

On the console or just in Cumulus?

It's stuck at 25C on the console. It worked fine before the recent lock-up problem. Since I reset the console and the connection to CUmulus, the inside temperature has been constant.

Thanks

Bob

Then I think it's likely that the console needs replacing; I'm not aware of anyone who has had a problem like that being able to fix it any other way. I suspect the lock up was caused by the same fault. But I'm no hardware expert.

Hi,

And also stuck at 25 degrees in Cumulus? It's possible that the Console could be in a mode displaying a maximum or "alarm" value.

Try resetting again (don't forget to unplug the USB as well as removing batteries) but it probably is a hardware failure. I'm not aware that anybody has even "found" the temperature sensor, it's possibly combined with the humidity sensor module. Somebody did report repairing their external humidity sensor by swapping with the internal module (which he didn't require). Could be worth a try before "binning" the station, if you're handy with a soldering irion.

Beware that there are numerous versions of 1081, so a replacement Console (alone) is both expensive and not guaranteed to work. Better just to buy another station (when "on offer" if you want another 1081).

Cheers, Alan.

Thanks everyone for your thoughts.
I'll try the reset again - and check the "alarm" function as well.
The station was bought "on offer" for less than £50 nearly 3 years ago, so it has done well.
I guess I'll wait for the next offer and do a full replacement.

If I find a solution, I'll post it here.

Thanks again.
