Problem uploading to server

I have recently been experiencing an intermittent problem uploading data and getting a timeout error code 10060. The problem was investigated by my hosting company who claimed to have solved the problem however overnight the problem became worse with error code 11004 and 11002 thrown in the mix. On contacting my host this was their reply :-

"We noticed DDOS attack on sever and it was your website which as the main target of DDOS. We are
afraid, we wont be able to lift the nullroute unless DDOS stops completely, It seems the main reason behind the error you are getting.

Please check and investigate the issue at your end as well and let us know if you have any more queries or concerns."

As a non technical numptie can anyone point me in the right direction as to where I should be looking and what to check. I thought it should be the hosting company to sort out any server problem.

Thanks in advance

There's nothing you can do if your site really is under a DDOS attack.

However, I seem to remember one incompetent hosting company in the past telling a Cumulus user that his realtime FTP constituted a DDOS attack. Perhaps yours believes the same, if you're using realtime FTP. But presumably they would have told you if that was the case. I have no idea what it is that they think you can investigate.
