Yesterday's readings lost

Last night my WS-2080 console totally went wacko. The temperatures for both inside and outside, for example, read 140.0. I realize it gets hot here in Tucson, but not that hot!

I tried tried to reset the reading in the console, but nothing would work. I pulled the batteries for a short time, 1 to 2 minutes, and replaced them with brand new batteries. Same results. Ambient told me to press the "UP" button for thirty seconds to reset the console, which I did. The console now works. However, the reading for Yesterday (08/20/2013) on the Cumulus console show all zeros.

When I go look at the dayfile.txt, the information for 8/20/2013 is there and appears to be correct. So why does not that information show up in the "Yesterday" column both on my PC Cumulus console and my webpage? Is there anything I can do to fix this?

It's unlikely that you can do anything as there will be no data in the console to 'rewind' with, since you had to reset it. The important thing is that you have a dayfile.txt entry. If you really want the yesterday high/low figures to be displayed rather than just waiting for tomorrow, you will need to stop Cumulus and edit yesterday.ini. You should be able to create the required values from the dayfile.txt entry.

I note from your web page that you are effectively blaming Cumulus for the problem (as Cumulus is the software), and saying that it lost of all of yesterday's data. It's just as well I'm not a certain other software author, as then I would be taking exception to that

No, I am not blaming Cumulus for the failure of the WS-2080 console. I spent many years as a Programmer/Analyst, Senior Systems Analyst, Technical Support Manager, IT Asset Manager and I.S. Manager to know that you can't blame a software program that gets its reading from a piece of hardware. However, in this case it was (according to Ambient Tech Support) the software in the WS-2080 console that failed. Good timing, just as I've been considering purchasing a Davis 6153 weather station and the WeatherLink IP unit.

I've only had this WS-2080 weather station since last December (started using Cumulus on January 2nd) and it has been less than reliable to say the least. I have not been happy with it. I've thought about demanding a replacement unit, but I don't think I can make a good enough case for that to happen.
