No the limitation is 'simply' that that standard data packet passed from logger to PC has only integer slots for supplementary temps. It's the format of the data packet that's the problem here. Got it. Thanks prodata for that information.
For future reference here is what Davis Instruments support told me about extra temp sensor and rounding the values.
"Unfortunately because of memory limitations in the console the extra temp stations cannot be shown with a tenth of a degree. It does round up at .5 and above and rounds down at .4 and below."
