Cumulus won't start, generates bug report.

Cumulus was running when I had a computer problem which shut down my machine. I have had the problem fixed, but now Cumulus will not start and generates a bug report, see attached file. Can you do anything to help me?

It's crashing in the code for the components that I bought which draw the panels on the main screen, amongst other things. Someone else had the same problem; I think it's specific to HP systems. I know that there is an issue with missing fonts on HP systems, but I can't remember whether that was the cause of this problem. I think the other person that had this problem did find a resolution, and I'm searching for it, but so far haven't found it. You could check that you have the usual 'standard' windows fonts, e.g. arial, verdana etc.

Reinstalling the missing fonts fixed the problem. There's a post of mine in that first thread which lists the fonts Cumulus needs.

I checked and all 5 required fonts are installed on my system. I tried them in Word, and they all display correctly. I restarted my computer and tried to start Cumulus. I received the same error message. Would deleting and reinstalling Cumulus help? If I need to reinstall Cumulus is there a way to save my data?

Guess I can't add, yes all 6 fonts are installed according to my control panel.

The data is all in the data folder, and you might want to save cumulus.ini too. Note that uninstalling Cumulus doesn't delete anything that the installer didn't create, like the contents of the data folder and cumulus.ini. But uninstalling and reinstalling (even if you also delete the files left after uninstalling) is highly unlikely to change anything.

When you say you had the problem with your PC fixed, what did that entail?

Are you sure you have all of the variants ("styles") of the fonts installed - regular, bold etc? My PC has nine styles of Arial installed, for example. Googling for HP missing fonts suggests that Arial Regular, Verdana Regular, and Verdana Bold are three of the missing fonts. It appears that a number of HP owners have fixed the problem by installing this font update from Microsoft: http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download ... n&id=16083

You are the best! I didn't have all the variants of the fonts installed. I downloaded the upgraded fonts from the link you sent. That did the trick. Cumulus is working properly again. Guess the 'devils in the details'.
