Hi,
I have a problem with webtags progress. I have a text document (documentT.txt) with Cumulus webtags, generated regularly by Excel, and I configured his because it generates documement.txt with meteo data. This archive is regularly imported by the same Excel for create a custom graphics. The problem is that document.txt appears without anything, white completely.
I create a continuous loop: Excel -generate> documentT.txt -Webtags progress> document.txt -import> Excel (repeat process).
When Excel is closed, this problem disappear and works correctly, but I need have Excel run for create custom graphics.
Thanks!

Re: txt completely white after webtags process
Is there anything at all in the .txt file or is it empty (0 bytes)
... When you say it is created by eXcel, do you mean it is a combination of text and figures ?
... When sent to Cumulus for processing, does it have any <#webtags> in it ? - If not it won't process !

Presumably Excel is locking the file so that Cumulus can't open it.MeteoLesOlives wrote:When Excel is closed, this problem disappear and works correctly

Re: txt completely white after webtags process
I add more information:
For exemple:
generated by Excel (documentT.txt):
documentT.txt after webtags progress (document.txt):
The document.txt size is 0 bytes, but size of documentT.txt too.
When Excel is run, I can open documentT.txt and document.txt without any problem, therefore I think that Excel doesn't
lock the file, but I don't know for sure.
I observed that problem occurs when Excel generate documentT.txt, from this point, Cumulus doesn't transform the template.
I don't know if this can help to solved this problem.
Thanks for your responses

Re: txt completely white after webtags process
If Excel has either documentT.txt or document.txt open for writing then it will be locked for writing and therefore Cumulus will not be able to open either of them. The web tag processing component requires exclusive access to the input file and the output file. It needs to be sure that the file cannot change while it is processing it. There's nothing I can do about this.
If you had looked in the diags file you would have seen an error message to this effect.

Re: txt completely white after webtags process
I has been watching this that you comment and with output file I haven't had any problem, the exact moment when problems begin is when Excel actualized input file (with webtags), unless Excel imports output file correctly. If the problem was because Excel uses input file, this only used 3 seconds every 5 minutes and Cumulus realize webtag progress every minute, It wouldn’t coincide every time.
In Cumulus don't appear any error, or I don't know what you mean.
Well, I'll continue trying for solve this problem

Re: txt completely white after webtags process
If the problem is that Excel is locking the file and preventing Cumulus from accessing it, there will be a message in the diags file similar to this:MeteoLesOlives wrote:In Cumulus don't appear any error, or I don't know what you mean.
Error processing C:\Users\steve\Desktop\documentT.txttmp Error: Cannot open file "C:\Users\steve\Desktop\documentT.txt". The process cannot access the file because it is being used by another process
If the problem goes away when you close Excel, it seems logical that this is the problem. If this isn't the problem, then I'm afraid I have no idea what the problem is because I don't really understand what it is that you are doing. It is hard to see how it could be a problem with Cumulus, but if you believe that it is, I'd be happy to look at any evidence that you come up with.
Perhaps, as beteljuice hinted, there is a problem with the file generated by Excel. If the file contains graphics, that isn't going to work, web templates have to be text.
