Realtime gauges v1.0.0.2 available for download

Post by steve »

Demo here:

http://sanday.org.uk/weather/CumulusRealtime.html

Download here:

http://www.nybbles.co.uk/downloads/CumulusRealtime.zip

Note that you should also upload the new html and xml files. The xml file has new configuration options for setting the background and font colours - see the readme for details.

Now running at: http://www.wheelocknet.net/cumulus/gauges.htm . The background colors must have default black and light gray values because when I removed them from the .XML they displayed as if they had not been removed. I was thinking I would get transparancy. Substituting other values works as advertised.

I very much like the idea (in another thread) of providing a second realtime for hourly data. That, of course, leaves you wide open for requests for a daily, monthly, and year end file. Consider it a suggestion. Users could select which files to upload and their interval. That way we could build Ajax (or other) pages for all data. That would really streamline the bandwidth problem.

Or perhaps someone smarter than I am can produce a server side application to parse and edit the Realtime.txt into hourly weekly, etc. data files. This might reduce the bloat the realtime.txt assumes with age - hmm - perhaps I need to look at mine and trim it a bit - it should be huge by now!

Great work, Steve - thanks!

GW

Oh no - it just occurred to me that it is not the realtime.txt bloating the server - it is the old realtime.log file I used for php and no longer need. I must stop that first thing tomorrow.

Line 868 position 85 is setting the font colour for the gust gauge labels. I've submitted a query to the component suppliers.

after 100% My realtime gauges do not load at first, if I click on refresh or if I click back to my weather website then back to realtime gauges then they are displayed OK.

I have tried with IE8 and Firefox and get the same results This is the error I get from IE8.

Midul -

I just accessed http://pooleweather.t35.com/weather/Cum ... ltime.html with IE8 and Firefox 8.0 and received no errors - loaded quickly - no problem from here. Please see if you encounter errors from my site referenced below.

Hi George,
Thank you for having a look at my website. I have had a look at yours and I have noticed some strange things happening even with mine.

1, If I have just opened IE8 or Firefox that is when I get those errors or if I have just turned my PC on.

2, If I have already looked at the gauges page or on my gauges or someone else's page then it works with out any errors and the gauges display OK.

So it is very strange does any one now why it is doing this? Because I do not now why.

Many Thanks for any Help/Information.
Mike

I've installed a debug version here:

http://sanday.org.uk/weather/CumulusRealtime.html

Could those of you experiencing the problems please try it and see if it comes up with any more information?

I think that must still be the non-debug version. You may have to refresh to get the new one, and then presumably it will work OK, so you'll need to close the browser and try again.

Here is what it came up with in Firefox 3.0.10. I closed the browser which automatically deletes cookies, history etc...Plus I ran CCleaner to make sure it was cleaned out.
