Time to halt original Cumulus webpages...but how?

Post by Intheswamp »

I know there is a simple answer to this but in my sawdust brain I'm scared to move forward...

I set up Cumulus with the default webpages a few months ago. It worked great! (Thanks Steve!) I then added the SS-Gauges and after I straightened out *my* problems they worked great! (Thanks Mark!) Finally, I decided I wanted to dive into templates so I jumped into Ken's Saratoga templates and they, too, worked great! (Thanks Ken!).

So here I sit with a website that is working pretty good...well, actually *two* websites that are working pretty good....the original default Cumulus website is still up and running, too! During the addition of the SS-Gauges and then the move to the Saratoga templates I kept the old site running for "insurance" (I guess I didn't trust myself too much :? ).

I would like now, to shut down the default website so to hopefully cut down on processing time and upload bandwidth/time...but I'm not sure "how". I'm afraid that I will do something or delete something that will cause the templated site to have problems. I'm not sure which files and processes affects which site...I know that the xxxT.htm are the templates for the default Cumullus website pages so I could either rename them or delete them and Cumulus wouldn't process them...but Cumulus would still take a small amount of time to "try" processing the missing files wouldn't it? What should I be able to delete/remove from the system that won't affect the Saratoga website? If you need some screenshots or something else let me know.

I feel kind of braindead on this and really don't want to mess anything up. :|

Thanks for your help!

Perhaps http://wiki.sandaysoft.com/a/Customised_templates might help?
consider creating your own files with different names (in a separate folder), and list them for Cumulus to process these. Local files 0 to (from version 1.9.3) 99 can be listed in cumulus.ini; in this case have 'Include Standard Files' unticked.
I assume you have 2 sets of pages being processed, presumably you just want to stop the standard files being included by unselecting (Main Cumulus screen, Configuration menu, Internet screen, Files Tab) as per that Wiki guidance?

The wiki also gives guidance http://wiki.sandaysoft.com/a/FAQ#What_i ... _update.3F on the uploading saving you will achieve.

Thanks for the links, sfws. I'm going to try and thin the uploads down this weekend when I get a little time. I just went through a 48 hour DSL outage. When I got home the Centurylink tech had removed my DLink router along with the DSL modem and replaced it with a hybrid modem/router. Naturally he also removed all my configured setup with my router, MAC addresses, so I've been trying to make heads and tales out of what's going on. At least the weather station is back uploading data...just not sure how solid everything is, though.
