I am running a Clas Ohlson to load data to Weather Underground only during the times that my laptop is in use. This system, using Cumulus, has worked well for some time.
I have recently bought a Raspberry Pi with the intention of running it continuously using pywws to do the same job.
As a complete novice with the pi, Linux and pywws, it is taking me some time to get things figured out, but yesterday, I managed to achieve a situation where I was downloading and processing data reliably (but not yet connected to Wunderground).
Last evening I re-connected to Cumulus and dowloaded the outstanding data before going back to the pi and setting it up to run all night to check reliability (which was OK).
This morning, I closed down the Pi, connected to the laptop and ran Cumulus. The downloading and processing of data appeared to go as expected, but on examining the data files, nothing had been stored from late last evening until around the time that I disconnected from the pi this morning.
Is this to be expected? I would have thought that the laptop/Cumulus and pi/pywws systems would be completely independent and using one would not affect the downloading capabilities of the other, or am I missing something?
The data logging box is ticked in Cumulus.

Re: Missing data when changing computer
Using the station with other software shouldn't make any difference to Cumulus. Please zip up the diags folder and attach it.

Re: Missing data when changing computer
Hi Steve.
Thanks for the reply.
I hope that I've followed the correct procedure. Zipped Diags file hopefully attached.
I didn't think that there should have been a software conflict. Perhaps it was a one-off.
Your observations will be appreciated. I could circumvent the problem by using my Ohlson for one system and my Maplin for the other, but I have problems with the Maplin's humidity accuracy.

That's your data folder, I need the diags folder. Instructions are in the post linked to near the top of the forum - "Please click here before posting..."

Sorry Steve- I thought I had selected diags not data!
Let's try again.

Re: Missing data when changing computer
The console had lost contact with the transmitter for the period that Cumulus wasn't connected:
25/07/2013 10:37:48.161 : EWUSB: Data: 0F 4C CE 00 FF FF FF 0B 27 FF FF FF 86 09 00 40
Note the FF values where the outdoor data should be, and the 40 at the end indicating lost contact.
So Cumulus discarded those entries because of the invalid outdoor temperature and didn't log anything.
In 1.9.4 Cumulus checks the 'lost contact' flag in logger data and ignores the outdoor data but still logs the indoor data. But you need to investigate the reason for the loss of contact for such an extended period.

Re: Missing data when changing computer
Thanks very much Steve.
All that I can think of is that I must have physically moved the console slightly to a position where it lost radio contact. It must have been coincidence to have happened during that period. I have had good contact all morning with the console where it is normally located.
Your speedy response is much appreciated. Cumulus is a great system- I only wish it would work on the pi!
Thanks once again from sunny (at the moment) West Somerset.

Re: Missing data when changing computer
I've had a version of Cumulus running on a pi here for several weeks non-stop. All I need is to find the time and enthusiasm to do the rest of the work to make it fully functional.diddacombe wrote:I only wish it would work on the pi!

Re: Missing data when changing computer
Keep at it if you can! I think that the pi will be very popular for simple 24 hr. operation.
Thanks again.
