Global Map icons problem

Post by pernaczy »

Hi,
1. I took "Global Network Map" script from Saratoga.org, put it on my server and it works fine: http://www.pogoda-niesiolowice.kaszuby. ... sample.php
2. I put this map into my "Weather by You" template and it works "almost" fine. http://www.pogoda-niesiolowice.kaszuby.pl/globalmap.php

Problem that has occured is that those green markers with numbers that indicate clusters of stations are not displayed properly (they work, just are not displaed).
Do you have any advice (except of to change the template to Saratoga - what I'm goin to do anyway in some time) what to do to have them visible?
If not please tell me what to do to have clustering turned off on start?

Best Regards to all Saratoga Template users,
Piotr

It may be that an existing JavaScript on the page is interfering with the operation of the JavaScripts needed to operate the global map.

I did see that one CSS inline definition has an issue. The code

Code: Select all

<style type="text/css">
<!-- This is part 2 taken from HEAD section of global-map-sample.php file -->
<!-- wycialem elementy: body, html > body and #page -->
.htmlControl ...
should likely be

Code: Select all

<!-- This is part 2 taken from HEAD section of global-map-sample.php file -->
<!-- wycialem elementy: body, html > body and #page -->
<style type="text/css">
.htmlControl ...
since HTML comments are not recognized inside a <style>...</style> tag set.

I would suggest removing one JavaScript at a time from the page to see if that one is causing the interference.

Best regards,
Ken

Thank you for an advice.
I did what you have suggested and It has helped partially. Now the frame around "clustering on/off" box (top-left on the map) is being displayed (before it was't). :)
Unfortunately those small green boxes are still not being displayed properly.
Do you have any other suggestions? :oops:

Best Regards,
Piotr

Question for Ken,
Do you know what to do to have clustering turned off on start?

Piotr

Yes, change the main JavaScript on the page from

Code: Select all

		var html='<div class="htmlControl" style="padding:0px 3px 3px 3px">Enable clustering: <input type="checkbox" checked="checked" onclick="toggleClustering()" /></div>';
to

Code: Select all

		var html='<div class="htmlControl" style="padding:0px 3px 3px 3px">Enable clustering: <input type="checkbox" onclick="toggleClustering()" /></div>';
and the default should be non-clustered.

Sorry you're still having issues with the cluster display -- It it likely a negative interaction between one of the other JavaScripts on your page, or the z-order of some elements in your site that are greater than that used by the drawn cluster images over the map.

Best regards,
Ken

Hi Ken,
Thank you for your reply. I did you have advised me to do but the result is not that I wanted.
Now when you open the "Global Map page" the "Cluster box is empty (unchecked) but an icons are still clustered (those green boxes are still there - invisible).
What I wanted is: On the opening of Global Map page ALL ICONS are visible and cluster box is unchecked. see: picture1.jpg
Only AFTER checking the "cluster box" icons should be clustered. see: picture2.jpg
Sorry for my English language that prevented me from expressing myself more clearly.
Best Regards,
Piotr

I tried a bit of debugging with your site using Firefox Firebug and Google Chrome developer tools.

I suggest you try removing your call to the timeanddate JavaScript - it is casting an error and that may be what is causing the glitch with the global map clusters not showing correctly.

I have deleted all "non globalmap" scripts from this page (except of "anylinkcssmenu.js" which is the drop-down menu script).
No positive result (green boxes are still invincible).
So the question remains: What to do to have clustering turned off on start and ALL stations icons visible?

Piotr

I understand :)

Change

Code: Select all

		var control=new HtmlControl(html);
		map.addControl(control, new GControlPosition(G_ANCHOR_TOP_LEFT, new GSize(7,7)));
    }
to

Code: Select all

		var control=new HtmlControl(html);
		map.addControl(control, new GControlPosition(G_ANCHOR_TOP_LEFT, new GSize(7,7)));
		toggleClustering();
    }
and the new default un-clustered view should show when the page is loaded.

Best regards,
Ken

Thank you Ken. I'm aware of that this is not the right solution of my problem. What remains (for me) is to learn and maybe some time in the future I'll be capable to find the right way.
Once more. Thanks a lot.

Piotr
