Networking WiFi - Cumulus

Post by Haybine66 »

I hope this question has not already been asked. I would like to put Cumulus on three other computers and share the WH1080 data via WiFi.

I have tapped into Easyweather dat file via Windows sharing - this seems to work OK, but I get in Cumulus 'Status' Window a constant blinking 'Error'. "Data input seems to have stopped" Maybe it just me but it is distracting and if it is at all possible to stop maybe someone can help. I have played with the 'Easyweather' interval settings - no go. Also, have made sure computer clocks are sync'd - no go.

If there is an alternative way of accomplishing this I would greatly appreciate any help. Since I'm down at the barn most of the day it would be great to get temperature and other info off laptop computer.

Thanks.

There's no other way that I'm aware of to get the data from a single Fine Offset station into multiple instances of Cumulus. What most people do is to have one instance of Cumulus and then use Remote Desktop (or whatever), or just view the data on a web site (which could be local). Doing it that way means you can have Cumulus reading data directly from the station, which is better than using an easyweather.dat file.

The 'data stopped' error is reported when no new data is read for over a minute. You can turn it off by editing cumulus.ini, with Cumulus stopped, and adding a line to the [Station] section:

ReportDataStoppedErrors=0

Hi Hayb

Agree with Steve and its what I do.

I use the free version of Team Viewer http://www.teamviewer.com/en/index.aspx

to access the dedicated weather station laptop (24/7) from various other computers wherever I happen to be.

Its quick and easy with fairly simple setup.

Another option is to generate a web page and access that. I also do this with dedicated web pages and Cumulus pages accessible.

Have a look here .. http://www.philcdav.webspace.virginmedi ... ather.html

I am currently looking at this setu p http://www.weerstation-lemmer.nl/forum/index.php

Hi Haybine66,

I have just read your post and may have something that could do
similar to what you are after.

I have written a Windows program called CRTDG "Cumulus Realtime Data Grabber"
that reads the data from the realtime.txt file that Cumulus generates, and
then displays it within its various screens etc.. Therefore this program does not need to
run on the same machine as Cumulus, it just needs to access the realtime.txt file
(whether that be on the a local network or from an FTP site where you upload it to).

Currently the latest version is version 1.4.7 - (12-07-13)

Which you can access here:

Hope this helps,

Regards

Mark
