Wunderground Rainfall Rate

I've noticed that the "Rainfall Rate" in Wunderground does not match the value that is reported by my Vantage Vue - on WU, it appears to be an average for the hour rather than an instantaneous reading as reported by Cumulus. Is this due to a misconfiguration on my part or a "feature" of Wunderground?

It's a feature of WU. Rainfall rate is not one of the parameters of the upload protocol; what they call rate is actually the rain in the last hour (which is a rate of a kind).

The only software that takes advantage of that by sending another value in its upload URL (the rainrate instead of that WU asks for) is WeatherLink, and while it can "look" better, they'll just be snapshots and it wouldn't be the intended value, just a huge spike in mm/h depending on rain intensity.
