FTP Too many connections

I keep getting various error messages with Cumulus and of course never when I'm around.
One of them I noticed is too many connections from IP address. Of course when I'm home and look at the web server end everything is working and I just have three sessions. One from cumulus one from Weather Display and one from Nextstorm. Weather display does auto logout every 15 minutes so any stale connections from there should end. Nextstorm doesn't the logout option either.
Any chance of making sure the ftp in cumulus also shuts down and restarts every so often which should kill any stale sessions.

Cumulus always logs out (and aborts, just for good measure) the 'normal' ftp connection after every upload.

By default, the 'realtime' ftp connection stays connected. You can make it disconnect periodically by adding a line:

RTdisconnectcount=N

to the [Station] section of cumulus.ini (with Cumulus stopped), where N is a positive integer. This will cause the realtime ftp to disconnect (and reconnect) after every N uploads. It's not clear to me how this will help your situation, though. It will close the existing connection and immediately replace it with another one.

Is it your own web server, or do you use a hosting company, e.g.1&1, Godaddy, etc?

Many hosting companies limit the number of simultaneous FTP connections any one customer can have.

I use hostpapa. Interesting the logon says x of 50 allowed connections. So I shouldn't be hitting problems. At least hostpapa have fixed their firewall so failed ftp connections aren't treated as port scans.
Anyway back on subject the most connections I've seen is five which suggests that some connections have failed and been left open.
Making sure the connection is closed should hopefully kill stale connections.

Looks like the problem may have been load balancing.
I've not routed all ftp sessions down the same wan and will keep an eye on things.
