I'm not sure what advice I can offer on this - I back up my data folder from time to time, but always when Cumulus is stopped. I think you'll be OK backing up while it's running (but you must have it stopped if you need to do a restore). The only advice I can offer about the timing is to avoid doing it close to your 'rollover' time.

Hi Steve,
I use a midnight rollover time
how long does the rollover take?
thanks

The rollover only takes a second or two, but I would always recommend not starting or stopping or backing up within a few minutes either side of midnight, just to reduce the possibility of problems when you start up again. Basically, if your station logger is set to 5 minutes, say, don't do anything between 2355 and 0005.

I have to apologize in advance for the “simplistic” question. I am a real “newbie” at this and I am not very computer literate. I have just installed this great software this past weekend and I am "learning as I go". How do you back up the data as mentioned earlier in this thread?

Steve,
I found my answer in the FAQ section.
